Solid online and offline branding is crucial for small businesses to reach their potential.

Let’s imagine for a minute you have just discovered that you have a dripping tap in your kitchen. You need a plumber, right? So you jump on the computer, go to google and begin searching for a plumber in your area to fix your tap.

You find two plumbers, and they both have an identical call out rate and hourly fee. The first plumber has a very bland website littered with typos, and to make matters worse there isn’t even a logo. In fact, it looks like he had his son knock it up during the last school holidays.

On the other hand, plumber number two has a clearly defined brand and identity. Their website is easy to navigate and straight away they come across as being more professional and competent.

So, who are you going to choose? You have no idea who is the better plumber, but you feel like plumber number two seems like they are going to do a better job because of their brand and the visual cues you have picked up from them.

This is the perfect example of how a strong brand can give you the edge over your competition.

In fact, some would argue that it is more important for small businesses to invest in their brand than it is for big businesses. Why? Because big business are already established in the market place, and as a result the consumer already knows who they are and what they stand for.

 

Increase the credibility of your business

Being a well branded business, you will come across as being professional and competent. There is a far greater chance potential customers will do business with you, over a business with a brand that is either weak or non-existant.

Make it memorable

Ensuring you have a consistent approach to your online and offline branding will help your potential customers remember who you are. This pays dividends when there comes a time that they need your services – your business will be at the forefront of their mind!

If you operate in a competitive market, a strong, consistent and visually engaging brand will place your business high above your competition. Your customers will build a perceived image of your company based on your branding and identity. If you get it right, you are already miles in front of everyone else!
